Welcome to OpenGameCity, our attempt at making the festival as accessible as possible for you. The site for GameCity 7 has just gone live, and we’re ready to receive your brilliant ideas, but please bear with us as we snag out any problems that we discover within it. If you find a problem with the site, or have any feedback on the process – do drop us a line!

We’ve tried to make it as easy to use as possible, and will be adding more information, places and ideas over the coming weeks, but for the time being, here’s a quick intro to what it’s all about.

The main space for all of our headline talks with delegates from around the world, this year we’re opening up the festival’s most exclusive and awe inspiring location for a very limited number of short sessions. The columns surrounding the Ballroom are embellished with gilt and the highly decorated ceiling has Art Deco light fittings. It has an elegant parquet floor in walnut oak and ebonised pear wood.” We think you’ll agree with this looking at the pictures.

The tent is our own temporary structure that exists in the Old Market Square. It's the heart of the GameCity festival. We're looking for Indie developers who want to show off their game to help fill it.

This is the main space for all visitors and exhibitors and it’s in the busiest part of Nottingham, so it gets the largest footfall. We find it’s great for hosting amazing things that we think people *have* to see! In previous years, we’ve crowd sourced live illustration, recreated mystical lands, built a gym and more. This year, it’ll be the home of the GameCity STEAM School

Suitable for:

Visual applies to anyone who'd like to do something, well erm.. visual. This could be an exhibition of some artwork, a projection of a game or some live artwork. This section exists as a resource for anybody who wants to create a visual event.

What is a Visual event?

By visual, we mean events that are for spectators only; without active participants. You’ll be watching someone do something they’re brilliant at, seeing the maestro at work, as it were.

What sort of Visual events can I expect to see?

Film screenings

Live art projects (graffiti/illustration/multimedia, etc)

Art/media exhibitions

These are just a few examples. You can expect to see a lot more than just those listed, and they’ll be spread out across the city in a range of venues

What is a Talk event?

GameCity exists to give creative industries their voice, and we’re equally proud to be able to extend this opportunity to everyone who wants to share their view on something. Here’s where you can wax lyrical about anything you like*

What sort of Talks can I expect to see?
